COUNTER PROTESTERS

A group of about 10 college-aged counter-protesters came to Beach Impeach II. We had a permit for our event, they did not. When the protesters presence became known, I phoned the Park Service, and several rangers promptly arrived and expertly handled and defused the situation so that almost no one at Beach Impeach II was even aware that any protest had taken place. A few of you who stayed around at the end may have noticed one of the protesters screaming at me: “Brad Newsham – you’re a communist motherf-----! A communist motherf-----…!” On and on. After a few minutes he disappeared, but I’m expecting him back.

 The Park Service is preparing for a counter-protest, which means that we have to pay a few hundred dollars for the services of two rangers (or possibly policemen), who will be at the event from start to finish.

 I feel good about their expected presence, and I think we all should.
